Why Take Part in the Alumni Program?
From the very beginning of your treatment, inclusion in an outpatient addiction alumni program is guaranteed. Knowing that once treatment is complete you will have a group of peers who know what you have been through and can offer help and assistance is both reassuring and inspiring. Being active in the outpatient addiction alumni program is a major help when it comes to relapse prevention.
The program is designed to offer continuous support after treatment through meetings and gatherings of likeminded individuals who have all experienced similar issues. While drug and alcohol addiction is a different battle for each individual person, feeling the love and support of others who went through something similar can be extremely healing and helpful in the process of moving forward.

How Often do they Meet? The purpose of the Alumni Program is to put clients in contact with others on a similar path and helps promote relapse prevention; there are several meetings and events you can attend as part of the alumni program. While attending meetings are not mandatory, they do help with recovery at any stage. These include:
Alumni Meet and Greets
These meetings take place on Saturday mornings at 11 a.m. They are a chance for new alumni members to meet select Alumni. As the first point of contact for many new members it’s the ideal time to meet new people while relieving anxiety about moving on from treatment. More seasoned Alumni can help with any questions you may have while bringing a sense of strength and hope to new members. It’s also the perfect opportunity to exchange phone numbers or email addresses and begin to make connections in the world of recovery.
Beachway Alumni Meetings
Running on Tuesday nights from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. these meetings offer stability and friendship to alumni. It’s a great opportunity to check in with friends and enjoy a night in recovery! Food is offered after these meetings at around 8:30 pm. Both a male and female speaker will start at 8 p.m. followed by a go around.
Road to Reflection
This two-day refresher event offers lifetime support for Alumni and keeps them connected to the facility and the team at Beachway. Once again working to strengthen the bond between alumni and help offer support and hope to current clients as well as others in the outpatient addiction alumni program.
Monthly Alumni Events
The key to fostering special bonds and relationships between Alumni is regular meeting and lots of contact. While offering support and hope to others is a great way to pass on good recovery karma, it’s also nice to sometimes let loose and celebrate recovery together. With our monthly Alumni events we can bring people together while having fun and celebrating all the hard work of the Alumni. Some favorite activities include:
These events are usually free of charge or have a small fee associated with them. These events are filled with fun and an excellent way to congratulate fellow Alumni on all of their hard work.
- Holiday-themed parties
- And more!
Benefits of an Outpatient Addiction Alumni Program
The adage that it takes a village is true when it comes to recovery and relapse prevention. In treatment, our clients work with therapists and counselors to get to a point where they can function in the real world without relying on drugs or alcohol. The Alumni Program is a continuation of this train of thought and offers clients the support and encouragement they need from people who have been in the same position. Members of the Alumni Program know what it’s like to be in varying stages of recovery and can offer valuable support and advice. Working as a team allows clients to understand that they are not in this alone. Regular meetings and get-togethers provide camaraderie, hope and a sense of purpose. Being part of a like-minded community helps reduce the chance of relapse and will help keep recovering addicts accountable for their actions.
Following Up after Treatment
At Beachway we want to know how you’re doing! This is why our alumni director and staff will check up with you to see your progress and congratulate you on any milestones. Being a part of the Alumni Program means you will always be connected to Beachway and you can always count on our expert staff for continued support and encouragement in your journey.
The Importance of Community
As with any outpatient addiction alumni program, the real value of it lies in the bonds you create. Many addicts have enablers in their lives that may make it difficult to remain sober. After treatment, we stress the importance of creating your very own sober community to keep you on track. While this may mean distancing yourself from people in your life who encouraged the use of drugs or alcohol, it also means making new friends and fostering new connections. The sober community you create can also help in more ways, since addiction or substance abuse can affect anyone, the connections you make in the outpatient addiction alumni program may help you professionally, or with your personal life and education as well as relapse prevention.
